Airtel’s revised its Rs 448, Rs 509 plans to counter Jio

Airtel’s standing up to Reliance Jio’s latest move by switching up its existing plans with more data and validity. The latter recently announced that it was doing the same for a bunch of its plans and the former is probably trying to control the situation so that droves of customers don’t transfer to Jio.

Airtel’s Rs 448 plan previously offered 1GB of data everyday for 70 days. This translates to 70GB in all. However, the brand is now going to increase the validity to 82 days at the same rate. Customers will thus get 82GB of data to play around with.

The next plan up for discussion is the Rs 509 plan. Up until recently, the pack served up 1GB of data for 84 days. This has now been updated to 91 days, totaling a whopping 91GB of data. This scheme might attract high-intensity users given the high volume of data being given away.

Other than data, both the Rs 448 and Rs 509 deals offer free calls, roaming, 100 free SMSes per day, and a free subscription to Wynk Music and Airtel TV. Reliance Jio has taken a slightly different approach, presenting users with more data in some of its plans and discounting the others.

For instance, its basic Rs 199 plan has gotten Rs 50 cheaper at Rs 149. The data is still set at 1GB/day for 28 days. On the other hand, the Rs 198 tariff used to give 1GB of data and now gives 1.5GB of data for the same 28-day period.
