Airtel’s offering the iPhone 7 at just Rs 7777

The iPhone 7 is being sold for as low as Rs 7777 by Airtel as part of its newly inaugurated Online Store. The handset and its Plus counterpart are actually the first handsets on offer at the portal.

As with any such heavily discounted deal, there are terms and conditions which have to be met. Anyone who wants to buy the 32GB iPhone 7 at Rs 7777 will have to commit to a Rs 2499/month postpaid plan for 24 months. This scheme will grant them 30GB of data per month and unlimited calling, including roaming.

Airtel is allowing anyone on this Rs 2499 pack to share it with one family member. The telecom operator is further bundling in a Handset Damage Protection insurance plan that will see it repairing any accidental or physical damage for 2 years at no extra cost.

Crunching some numbers, paying Rs 2499 for 24 months equals to Rs 59976. Adding the original Rs 7777 to this number brings the total to Rs 67753. That’s a lot to ask, especially when taking into account the fact that the 32GB iPhone 7 is priced at Rs 49000 officially and Rs 38999 through Flipkart and Amazon India.
