Airtel’s new Rs 495 pack offers 84GB data, unlimited calling

Airtel has a new plan in place to challenge Reliance Jio, marking its latest attempt to lure people away from its biggest rival. The telecom brand’s scheme is priced at Rs 495 and offers 1GB of data a day.

The prepaid recharge pack is valid for 84 days, translating to 84GB of data in all. Subscribers will also get the benefits of unlimited local and STD calls across both national roaming and home circle. One major catch is that only new customers can avail themselves of this deal for their first and second recharge.

It seems Airtel hasn’t listed the Rs 495 plan for the Delhi NCR area yet, but it is available in key places like Mumbai and Chennai. Customers residing in the former additionally get to take advantage of 99 free SMSes on a daily basis, along with free outgoing calls on roaming.

The closest scheme which Reliance Jio has to compete with Airtel’s is a Rs 399 pack. People who opt for it will get to access 1GB of data per day and unlimited free calling on local, STD, and roaming. Once the limit is over, individuals will have to get used to speeds of 128Kbps.
