Airtel rolls out Rs 249, Rs 349 pack with up to 84GB of data

Airtel has once again launched a new prepaid plan, revising an existing one along the way to better keep up with bitter rival Reliance Jio. The former has been on a pack-announcing spree as of late, coming out with a Rs 499 plan just a few days ago.

The new Rs 249 scheme gives users 2GB of data per day. That’s in addition to unlimited local, STD, and roaming calls and 100 SMSes on a daily basis. As always, these calls aren’t completely limitless, since Airtel caps them at 300 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week.

The 249 plan sticks around for 28 days, granting subscribers 56GB of 3G/4G data during that time. That’s quite a lot of data, but anyone who thinks they need even more should look out for Airtel’s revamped Rs 349 plan. Instead of promising 2GB of data every day, the deal now serves up 3GB of data daily for 28 days.

Crunching some numbers, this totals up to 84GB of data for the entire validity period. Both the Rs 249 and Rs 349 packs are active in the MyAirtel app and the company’s website. For those seeking even more data, Airtel has the aforementioned Rs 499 scheme.

The plan gives away 2GB of data on a daily basis for 82 days. This racks up to 164GB all-in-all, more than enough to stream multiple IPL matches. Meanwhile, Reliance Jio has its own Rs 299 and Rs 398 packs. The first offers 84GB of data for 28 days, while the second offers 140GB of data for 70 days.
