Airtel bundles 10GB 4G data for price of 1GB

In the wake of Reliance Jio’s war on incumbent operators, Airtel has been extending several deals to its customers, the latest being 10GB of data for the price of 1GB. Initially, the offer was only open to folks buying a Samsung Galaxy J series smartphone. It has now been rolled out to all users purchasing a 4G handset.

Airtel is not the only major carrier to cave in to the pressure of Jio’s rising popularity. Vodafone recently announced a similar SuperNet scheme under which subscribers can pay for a 1GB internet pack and avail of 10GB instead. What’s more, the company has now completely slashed roaming charges on incoming calls throughout India.

Airtel Diwali Offer

Coming back to Airtel’s new scheme, those who’ve bought a new phone will have to sign up for the service provider’s Rs 259 pack. This will give them an instant credit of 1GB of data. The remaining 9GB must be used within a period of 28 days. Subscribers can take advantage of the Rs 259/10GB plan up to three times within 90 days.

But they have to remember to recharge with said amount within 30 days of purchasing a new 4G smartphone. Until last week, the offer was only available in the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It has presently been extended to all 18 circles across India within which Airtel operates.

Where 4G is not available, the scheme will automatically be applied to 3G data. Customers will have to claim the 9GB of extra data by downloading the My Airtel app.
