Acer brings the C720 Chromebook to US and India

Acer has introduced a new addition to its Chromebook lineup, the C720 which is scheduled to go on sale in the US and India this month. The device is the same laptop which was announced by Google earlier along with other future notebook from Asus and Toshiba running its desktop OS.

The launch of the C720 has taken place just a couple of days after HP showed off its stylish and highly portable Chromebook 11 laptop. The device will be slightly cheaper than the C7 which is tagged at $280. However, this one does come with better features. First and foremost, the processor implemented here is the Celeron 2955U that’s based on the Haswell micro-architecture clocked at 1.4GHz.

The company notes that the notebook has enough oomph to boot up in just about 7 seconds from cold and it can deliver approximately 8.5 hours of battery life. Under the lid rests an 11.6-inch ComfyView anti-glare HD screen proffering 1366 x 768p resolution, and an HD webcam, while a full-size keyboard is provided on the low-half of the laptop.

Where the design is concerned, the C720 Chromebook is 0.75 inches thick and it tips the scales at just 2.76 pounds. The notebook is fitted with a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 port, an SD card reader, an HDMI port as well as dual stereo speakers for clear audio output. There’s Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n onboard too, but no cellular connectivity.

The Acer Chromebook C720-2800 with 4GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD is now available in the US through Amazon and Best Buy online stores for $249.99. In India, potential buyers can purchase the laptop with 2GB of system memory and a 16GB SSD at Rs 22,999 via Croma and Reliance Digital stores in Mumbai and Delhi or through Flipkart at a later date.
