Another device from Indian manufacturer Karbonn, the TA-Fone A37 Kommunicate, a 3G voice calling tablet, has hit online retail in the country and is available to purchase for a price of just about Rs. 9,500. It runs on the latest version of Android and even brings dual SIM support.
Unfortunately, unlike most of the recent launches we’ve seen, this slate can manage only a 1GHz dual core processor, a spec that might be seen as somewhat low, especially when compared against its 7-inch capacitive display. This screen is capable of putting out images and video in a resolution that’s nowhere close to HD (800 x 480 pixels). But then again, it is a budget device and users will have to make some sacrifices somewhere.
One of the main regions where it takes a hit is pure hardware capabilities. To that effect, there will be just 512MB of RAM to command operations. 4GB of internal storage has been included, and this can be expanded by as much as 32GB via a microSD card slot. But the slab will deliver a fairly well connected experience to users, throwing in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as GPS wireless options.
In terms of photography, the slab once again fails to impress, utilizing low spec lenses in order to meet its tight budget. There is a 2MP primary camera with no mention of its capabilities, and a VGA secondary snapper. The tablet affords access to the Google Play store and has a G sensor lending compatibility to apps and games that require it. Finally, there is a 3,000mAh power unit, but talk time and standby haven’t been mentioned.
The Karbonn TA-Fone A37 Kommunicate 3G calling tablet has been listed on Snapdeal, Saholic and Infibeam with shipping estimated to begin 2 or 3 days after purchase. The last retailer mentioned has it in both black and white, and offers an additional discount of Rs. 590.
