Asus and Google may not have revealed anything about the 8GB Nexus 7 in India, but the model is ready to go up on sale through various e-retailers for a starting price of Rs 17,213. It should be noted that the search engine giant has already started selling the slab’s 16GB and 32GB variants through the Play store.
While Saholic has listed the slate, this e-commerce website has refrained from revealing the amount for which it plans to sell the device. Indiatimes and Homeshop 18 have also put it up for grabs for Rs 17,213 and Rs 17,884, respectively. As far as the 16GB and 32GB models on the Play store are concerned, both of them have been slapped with retail tags reading Rs 15,999 and Rs 18,999, correspondingly.
Turning our attention towards the specifications of the slate, its front side is graced by a multi-touch screen measuring 7 inches diagonally. This IPS LCD capacitive display can spew visuals in a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and it resists scrapes and scratches with a little assistance from a Corning Gorilla Glass coating. An ambient light sensor, a gyroscope, a hall sensor, a digital compass and a G-sensor have also been thrown into the mix.
Its enhanced graphics can be attributed to a GeForce GPU, while it gets the ability to multitask with ease from a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor ticking away at 1.3GHz. Also, this chipset works in tandem with a gigabyte of RAM. Prospective users will have to make do in 8GB of internal storage as the tablet is devoid of an expansion slot
Based on the Android Jelly Bean platform, it has been loaded with most of the common connectivity features. These include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, a USB port, a 3.5mm audio jack and GPS. And a 1.2MP front-mounted webcam should take care of users’ imaging needs. The device draws power from a 4325mAh lithium-polymer battery.
Availability and official price details of the 8GB Google Nexus 7 are currently under wraps. Saholic says that it is coming soon, while it is out of stock on the other two web portals mentioned above.
