7 handset makers in India to pre-install Opera Mini on their respective devices

As many as 7 handset makers in India have entered into a collaboration with Opera Software and smartphones as well as tablets manufactured by these companies will come pre-loaded with the Opera Mini web browser. One of the OEMs is Micromax who had announced the partnership only yesterday.

In addition to Micromax, Opera will be present in the phones from Spice Mobiles, iBall, Lemon Mobiles, Wynncom, Videocon and MoMagic Technologies at the time of the launch. The presence of this mobile web browser eliminates the need to download any other browser application. And it is efficient enough to offer fast web browsing and a social experience. Most importantly, the app keeps users in the know of their data usage as it features a separate page for it.

Some other OEMs had already joined hands with the software company about a few months back. These include Celkon, HCL, Karbonn, Zen, Lava, Intex and Fly amongst others. And although it sealed the deal with Micromax only now, some of the previous phones from this manufacturer already had the app installed. Smartphones such as Canvas 4, Canvas Doodle 2 and the latest Fun series phones are some of those.

India happens to be the biggest market for Opera and Android is the second most used platform by these customers. This probably is what has prompted the software developer to join forces with local handset makers. The application has a strong foothold in neighboring countries like Nepal and Bangladesh as well.

All other people who wish to use the Opera Mini web browser on their Android phones can download it from the Google Play store.
