7.6 million games downloaded via DJuzz in November 2010

Buzzcity We had previously reported on BuzzCity’s October 2010 reports based on its gaming portal, Djuzz. The company states that it has now witnessed a rise in the number of mobile games being downloaded through its Djuzz mobile gaming portal.

The latest charts show that downloading has increased by 17 percent amounting to almost 7.6 million games in the month of November. These results include downloads carried out by consumers from all over the globe.

Dr. KF Lai, CEO of BuzzCity, asserted, “A significant proportion of the growth in mobile gaming and other mobile internet usage that we are seeing are in areas where mobile is a cheaper and more accessible form of internet connectivity. This is particularly true in Africa, where Nigeria and Kenya have both seen triple digit growth in traffic to Djuzz over the last quarter.”

India tops the gaming portal’s charts, with almost 4 million downloads. One of the most downloaded games from Djuzz is the Reebok ZigTech. Due to the strong localization of games in the Indian market, from the top 10 three games were developed by Indian based or owned companies. These included RockeTalk and IgFun owned by Indiagames as well as Mobimasta.

“Localization is one of the key elements required to better engage mobile users and it’s likely that this trend will further develop in 2011”, added Dr. Lai. “Furthermore, as mobile marketing continues to mature, it’s vital that brands don’t restrict their strategies to smartphones. Feature phones continue to dominate in many areas and incorporating these handsets within mobile marketing strategies is vital.”

The company explains that it has witnessed a growing trend wherein developers are opting for more of local language content than English. These include Chinese, Korean, Thai, Arabic, Spanish, and Portuguese. In fact, based on its Djuzz metrics the top five handset manufacturers preferred by Indian gamers Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG and Micromax.

On comparing the previous month’s statistics to this one, we notice that there has apparently been an increase of 1.1 million of downloads which appears to be quite a huge feat. In the month of October, the company noted 6.5 million game downloads through Djuzz.
