By active members, the research means users who tweet at lease once a month. According to Twitter, active subscribers are those who log into their accounts at least once every month. And about 40 percent of the people who use the social networking website never tweet but sign into their profiles pretty regularly.

The geographical chart prepared by Statista as you can see above, clearly shows the active user base on the basis of subscribers’ countries. About 24 percent of the total number of people who tweet are situated in the US. It thus is the website’s largest market in the entire world and that too by a huge margin as the following country is Japan that takes credit for 9.3 percent of the total user base.

Third up is Indonesia which is home to 6.5 percent of active Twitter users, while the fourth place is taken by the UK with a share of 5.6 percent. The UK also happens to be the nation from where the largest European Twitter population comes. Brazil accounts for 4.3 percent and takes the fifth spot. And Saudi Arabia that has the highest Twitter penetration in the entire world, ranks seventh with 4.1 percent active users.

As we said, the data has been collected by PeerReach and the chart is prepared by Statista.
