5.7-inch Gionee GPad G4 has nothing on Gionee Elife S5.5

It’s unfair to compare the 5.7-inch Gionee GPad G4 to the Gionee Elife S5.5. But before the S5.5 blew our minds, we were just thinking about the G4 and how the company has been rising slowly in our esteem. Never mind that big names like Apple and Samsung get their mobile devices manufactured in China, until recently the country wasn’t well known for its homegrown smartphones.

We had the budget friendly Xiaomi Red Rice making headlines this week and now here’s the Elife S5.5 arriving on the heels of Gionee’s GPad G4 pitch for India. The Elife series device has caused a stir because of its ultra skinny profile which is just 5.5mm thick and hence the hint in the name.

Engadget points out that the iPhone 5s is 7.6mm slim. 5.5mm is ridiculously thin by iPhone standards too. The sleek white Gionee smartphone has a metallic gold frame running all around it. Worried that like human beings, the handset may be too skinny to have enough energy without needing to be fed at the wall outlet over and over again?

The manufacturer claims that the integrated 2300mAh battery can take you through an entire day. The phone has a 5-inch display and embeds a 1.7GHz quad core processor of unspecified origin. It’s got 2GB of RAM onboard. The other memory details of the device aren’t clear presently.
