Watching anything in 3D seems to be the ‘in’ thing these days. Apart from action movies, even children’s movies like Alice in Wonderland are coming out in 3D to provide entertainment to kids. Taking a leaf out of this book, See Here Studios has come up with an iPhone app, 3D Storybook – The Wrong Side of the Bed in 3D.

This app is equipped with animated pictures viewable in both eye-popping 3D with the help of red/cyan 3D glasses and standard 2D. The artwork had to go through a scrupulous 3D conversion process implemented by Ray Zone. The ensuing 3D anaglyph illustrations bring the upside-down story of a small boy who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed alive. Users can also double-tap or pinch to zoom in and out of the gorgeous hand-painted artwork. The author/illustrator of ‘The Wrong Side of the Bed’ is Wallace E. Keller.

The app includes twenty-four stunning full color spreads, packed in both 3D and 2D. Users can simply order 3D glasses directly from the app. The storybook comprises of audio options like ‘Read to Me’. In this feature, the author would read the book and an original musical score would be playing in the background. The other attribute includes ‘Read Myself’ to switch off the audio when parents or children would like to read at their own speed. The 2D book can also be turned upside down to view the story in a completely funny angle.

3D Storybook – The Wrong Side of the Bed in 3D! iPhone app was rolled out on April 2 at a special 2-week promotional price of $0.99. Subsequently the standard price of the app would be $1.99. 3D Glasses can be purchased for $1.00 for a single pair, or simply $0.75 each for 2 or more pairs with free shipping in the U.S. They are available in white as well as blue and can be bought at the See Here Studios online store.

The artwork of the app was exhibited at the Society of Illustrators ‘Very Best of Children’s Book Illustration’.
