When the OnePlus 2 came out in July last year, the company had promised to release a 16GB version of the phone in India. It’s finally done so, and as per tradition has put it up as an Amazon-exclusive.
One aspect that the brand is not sticking to is its invite scheme. This makes sense since the 64GB OnePlus 2 has been free of the system for over a month now. Other than the change in its storage space, the brand has also reduced its RAM from 4GB to 3GB. All other specifications appear to be the same.
The 16GB OnePlus 2 can be bought in exchange of Rs 22999, Rs 2000 lesser than the Rs 24999 the 64GB model goes for. It’s not a huge difference in terms of price, which is strange considering the significantly reduced memory capacity. In other noteworthy news concerning the manufacturer, it has announced that the OnePlus X will now be available without invites.

OnePlus CEO Carl Pei made the declaration via the company’s official forum. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of India being one of the countries which will be able to buy it invite-free. The firm will likely make that official at a later date, given it had followed the same pattern for the permanent open sale of the OnePlus 2.
