Apple iPhone 5S now available for cheaper at Rs 22500

The Apple iPhone 5S has had its cost slashed down to Rs 22500, its second big cut in value within a period of 4 months. It’s available at even lower rates via some e-commerce sites in India.

The last major reduction in cost for the Apple iPhone 5S was announced post the launch of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus back in September. At the time, it had vended for Rs 35000 for the 16GB model and Rs 40000 for the 32GB one. The handset is now selling at a market operating price (MOP) of Rs 22500 for the 16GB unit according to sources working in retail.

This information comes via Gadgets 360, which further claims the new cost of the iPhone 5S is among the lowest in the world. The device can be bought at $450 in the US, which converts to roughly Rs 30000 here. The move is surprising given the fact that huge import taxes combined with the declining rupee resulted in the iPhone 6S getting launched in India for Rs 62000, one of the highest globally.
