Altec Lansing aims for $20 million revenues from India within a year

Altec Lansing is looking to generate $15 to $20 million in revenue from India within its 1st year of business in the country. The manufacturer was present here earlier but had to leave after a change in management at a global level.

Altec Lansing is now planning to make a comeback in partnership with Trade Bazaar, a member of the Konark group. It’s launched a range of portable speakers to this effect, with prices starting from Rs 3000 to Rs 14000. The new offerings will initially be sold online via Flipkart, before moving on to other e-commerce sites and offline outlets.

Trade Bazaar Hometech Ventures Partner Shonit Dalmia claims the audio market segment is one of the fastest growing categories after handsets and is currently rising at a rate of 25% to 30%. He thinks Altec Lansing can do well in India and will be able to get about $15 to $20 million (approximately Rs 133 crore) in revenues by March 2017.

As per PTI, Dalmia says Altec Lansing will eventually expand its offerings in the nation to include headphones and home audio systems. The brand also has plans to manufacture its products in India within 2 years if the response to its devices is positive. For now, consumers will be able to purchase its ‘Everything Proof’ series of Bluetooth speakers.

The rugged offerings are supposedly shockproof, sand proof, waterproof, snow proof and dustproof. The range includes the Mini H2O, Mini Lifejacket 2, Lifejacket 2 and BoomJacket. The last one comes with some interesting features such as the ability to float on water and act as a powerbank for charging other devices.

All the Altec Lansing speakers are compatible with the Android, iOS and BlackBerry platforms. The devices will be hitting Flipkart with a week’s time.
