Vodafone starts Choose Your Number service for users in Delhi

Vodafone India has introduced a new service dubbed Choose Your Number which allows customers to pick a mobile phone number combination of their choice. The facility is only available for customers located in Delhi and NCR for now.

The Choose Your Number scheme can be utilized by both prepaid and postpaid consumers. Note that the 1st 5 digits of the former and the 1st 4 numerals of the latter are fixed. So users will only be able to customize the second half of their mobile number. They can do so at all 52 Vodafone stores, 212 mini stores and 40000 multi-brand outlets.

People have to register their desired combination of figures at any of the above Vodafone outlets. The telecom operator will then check if the arrangement is available, post which the number gets activated under standard procedure. The move towards starting such a service is the result of customer research conducted by the company.

As per PTI, the study indicated that individuals are very interested in changing their mobile number to something of their liking. According to Apoorva Mehrotra, the Vodafone India Business Head for Delhi and NCR, they want to do so in order to have it be better aligned with some major event in their lives.

The new offer comes after Vodafone faced a backlash from its customers for the rampant call drop problem in Delhi. It’s promised to resolve the issue, claiming to have improved the capacity of 550 of its current sites with plans to install 500 more. It’s already invested Rs 350 crore to upgrade the voice and data quality in the region.

In an earlier statement, Vodafone declared that it had invested Rs 111000 crore into India since its entry here in 2007. The network provider is planning to further sink in Rs 13000 crore to expand its capacity and begin new business initiatives.
