Huawei gears up to release Honor smartphones in retail stores

Since the arrival of Huawei’s Honor smartphones in India not too long ago, they have been selling exclusively via Flipkart as part of a partnership between the two giants. However, that is all about to change soon, even as the Chinese company is considering taking the retail route in order to expand its presence in the country.

At the moment, a total of six Honor offerings are being sold in India through Flipkart. According to its own estimates, the more than 5 lakh units of these devices have been sold in India already, with sales of 2 lakh among them having come since March this year.

According to a PTI report cited by Hindustan Times, an industry source has said that Huawei is in talks with a leading South India-based mobile phone retail store right now. This store has a few outlets in North India as well. There was no comment from the company upon being contacted on this matter.

Huawei is really seeing the Indian market as a major contributor in its revenue. This is evident from a lot of recent moves it has made. Although it had a smallish presence in the country before that, it made a big headway by introducing its Honor handsets.
