The Android One program which was originally launch in India last year has stretched its roots all the way to Europe and has now landed in Turkey through the General Mobile 4G smartphone. This device isn’t the same as what we seen in other market and that’s because it’s the first release in the second generation series.
The General Mobile 4G is as the name indicates, an LTE enabled smartphone. The device is a huge upgrade over the other Android One devices on the market as it offers mid-range features. Google’s new hardware recommendations include a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display with Gorilla Glass 4, a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 SOC and a 2500mAh battery.
The phone also has a 5MP front shooter and a 13MP rear camera. Having an Android One phone means that you’ll be entitled to guaranteed updated for 2 years. The latest release already comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. Basically, what you have here is a mid-range Nexus-like device.

There’s a good chance that Google will bring the new hardware to other markets as well, in the coming months. Rumors of its partners in India already working on second generation devices have been around for long, but there’s a good chance that they could have backed out considering that the program isn’t doing all that well in the country.

The biggest concern here is the price attached to the General Mobile 4G handset. It’s said to cost around $260 which would translate to approximately Rs 16500. The competition in India offers similar features and specs at less than half of what’s being asked.
