Asus ZenFone 2 vs Moto E 2nd gen: Fight of the new budget handsets

The Asus ZenFone 2 and the Moto E 2nd gen are two new smartphones for the Indian market intended for budget conscious Android fans. The ZenFone 2 comes in various models and it is the ZE500CL in particular that we are referring to in this comparison.

Beginning with the Asus ZenFone 2, it has a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen of 720 x 1280p HD resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by Android Lollipop 5.0 and works on a 1.6GHz dual core Intel Atom Z2560 processor supported by 2GB of RAM.

The ZenFone 2 ZE500CL has 16GB of internal storage and can accommodate a microSD card of up to 64GB. Its back panel is given to an 8MP camera with LED flash, while a 2MP lens resides above its display. A 2500mAh li-polymer battery keeps it going between charges. 2015’s Moto E 4G may have it beat with its 64-bit 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 410 chip.

But that seems to be one of the very few advantages it has over the Asus ZenFone. With this Motorola phone, you get a 4.5-inch panel of 960 x 540p qHD resolution only, though it does have Gorilla Glass to save it from drops and scratches. There’s just 1GB of RAM aboard, while the 8GB of memory can only be supplemented by 32GB of additional storage.

A 5MP camera can be found on the back panel of the new Moto E, while a laughable VGA webcam is pasted above the screen. It runs on Android Lollipop and a 2390mAh battery, and also happens to offer 4G connectivity to users. That being said, the Motorola device does carry a very tempting price tag of Rs 7999 in order to keep you interested.

The Asus ZenFone 2 will reach India on April 23 and it is likely to cost around Rs 10000 or so. You’ve read the comparison and hopefully, you now know whether you’d like to wait for it or not.
