The 128GB iPad 4 price and release date information in the US, the UK and India has been validated by the OEM only a day after our report suggested the slate’s possible existence. Visibly, the company has introduced a model with double the storage capacity as compared to its 64GB unit. And as expected, the tablet will be out in Wi-Fi-only and cellular variants.
While speaking about the additional hoarding capacity of the 128GB iPad 4, Philip Schiller who is the senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple, explains that they are offering just another reason for users to choose their tablets over PCs. While most of the factors stay true our previous report, the word about the fresh variant carrying additional features has clearly been brushed off.
Apart from this, the tablet will ship with more or less the same specifications as its 16GB, 32GB and 64GB siblings. A 9.7-inch screen will greet users with a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels. The screen makes use of the IPS technology and lies under a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. Internally, the fourth generation iPad with Retina display is driven by a dual core A6X processor that yanks in a quad core GPU.
The engraved 5MP iSight camera features auto focus, a BSI sensor and full HD video recording. At the same time, the 1.2MP FaceTime HD webcam which has been placed on the front panel ought to suffice for live face-to-face calling and recording clips in 720p. An inbuilt Li-polymer battery should be able to power the device for 10 hours of web browsing over Wi-Fi or 9 hours of Internet surfing using a cellular data network. A three-axis gyro and an ambient light sensor are included in the tablet as well.
The 128GB iPad 4 will be up for grabs soon as its release date has been set for February 5, 2013. The manufacturer has slapped it with a price of $799 for the Wi-Fi only unit and $929 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model in the US. They will be put up for sale in the UK for £639 and £739, respectively. Similarly, the former variant will cost Rs. 49,900 and the latter can be bought for Rs. 56,900 in India. Not surprisingly, Apple has chosen to dip the slabs in shades of either white or black.
