Asus has launched two tablets for India dubbed the Asus FonePad 7 FE171CG and the MeMO Pad 8 ME581CL. Both devices are being made available for purchase online through Flipkart and they’re affordably priced carrying tags of Rs 10999 and Rs 19999, respectively.
The new Asus FonePad 7 FE171CG is basically a refreshed version of last year’s model. The slate was officially launched in January this year during the CES 2015 expo and it continues to fall in the entry-level segment carrying the same old dual core Intel Clover Trail+ Z2520 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz. Compared to its predecessor that is available for Rs 7599, the new model offers double the internal storage.
And along with the 16GB of flash memory, you get a high resolution 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper. No other modifications have been made to the Asus device as it packs the same 7-inch 1024 x 600 pixel LCD screen, 64GB microSD support, Android 4.4 KitKat (preloaded) and 3G HSPA+ connectivity. The tablet is capable of up to 14 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing or 11.5 hours of video calling.

Coming to the MeMO Pad 8 ME581CL, this tablet is a high-end release featuring a beefy Intel Atom processor. The slate comes in colorful options and it doesn’t offer voice calling like the FonePad series, but you still get optional cellular connectivity for data access.
