New Moto E is larger and better, but still costs just Rs 6999

The new Moto E second generation smartphone from Motorola has gone official and it brings various improvements to the company’s ultra-affordable handset. In a nutshell, the device delivers a larger display, a faster processor, more connectivity options, improved battery life and the latest enhancements Android has to offer.

We were actually expecting a new wearable from the company’s mystery event. But certainly, we’re not one bit disappointed with the Motorola Moto E 2015 launch. The phone continues to offer that same gorgeous design with a few modifications, of course. Firstly, the second speaker grille below the display has been removed and you get a larger screen of 4.5 inches, but with the same qHD resolution.

There’s also a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating here and it’s nice to see that the company has added a front-facing VGA snapper. The rear sensor continues to be a 5MP shooter, but now features auto-focus and other new capabilities. And it would have been nice to see an LED flash as well. According to the product page, the Motorola handset will carry a quad core processor.

However, there will be different versions depending on market. For places where LTE networks are available, the new Moto E will have a 64-bit 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 chip, while the rest of the world will have to deal with the old Snapdragon 200 SOC. On the upside, Android 5.0 Lollipop comes out of the box.

Motorola Moto E specs:

– Android 5.0 Lollipop
– 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 410/200 processor
– 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, 32GB expandable
– 4.5-inch qHD Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display
– VGA front camera, 5MP rear shooter
– 2390mAh battery
– 4G LTE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0

The Motorola Moto E second generation smartphone is priced at $149.99. The company notes that the handset is coming soon to India exclusively through Flipkart, with the 3G model costing Rs 6999.
