Karbonn S15 with Android 4.4 KitKat spotted online for just Rs 3830

The ultra-affordable smartphone market is getting more crowded by the day and the Karbonn S15 is another release that’s attempting to lure customers by offering a good slice of hardware combined with a low price tag. The latest addition is on sale for just Rs 3830 and it’s powered by a quad core processor.

Devices in this range mostly have dual core or even single core chips depending on OEM. The Karbonn S15 will basically have to compete with the Rs 3299 Spice Stellar 431 which went official a couple of weeks back. And while the latter has a lower retail tag, it’s downside is that the processing power is half of what the device in question delivers.

Well, the majority of the hardware is more or less the same on both phones. The Karbonn handset runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and there’s absolutely no word on whether it’ll get updated to Lollipop – We wouldn’t get our hopes high either. The device offers a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen which is a nice addition for the amount being asked and the quad core processor here is clocked at 1.2GHz.

Memory-wise, the S15 has basic provisions of 512MB RAM and 4GB flash storage. The mandatory microSD card slot is also onboard supporting up to 32GB and you even get dual SIM connectivity with 3G. The front has a VGA camera for video calling, while the rear packs a 3.2MP shooter with what looks to be a dual LED flash.
