Xolo One Android 5.0 Lollipop update to start rolling out soon

The Xolo One handset will soon be the first release in India to run Android 5.0 Lollipop and the wait isn’t going to be long as the company plans to roll out the update on January 16. What’s more, the Indian brand has also disclosed that it will be bumping up various other devices from its portfolio to the latest Google mobile OS in the coming days.

However, we’ve only gotten confirmation on the Xolo One smartphone and a roster of other handsets eligible for the update will likely be shared soon. Speaking to the Economic Times, the company’s business head, Sunil Raina, disclosed that they’ve put together a dedicated software team which is working towards getting the new OS onto phones before the competition.

Raina further mentioned that Xolo managed to sell a whopping 200000 units of the One smartphone since its release in October and treating it to Lollipop will further improve the demand for the handset. At launch, the company promised a guaranteed update to the new Android OS, but it didn’t provide any release date.

It’s quite surprising to see Xolo deliver Lollipop so quickly and this will definitely help it strengthen its brand in India, especially since Micromax has bagged the rights to use Cyanogen OS on its Yu handset. This will also land a blow to Google which is yet to offer the new platform to its Android One devices.
