After going official earlier this month, the Intex Aqua i5 Octa smartphone has now being made available for purchase in India for the same Rs 7499 price tag. The device isn’t widely available though, mainly because it’s exclusive to Amazon where it’s being sold in blue only.
The Intex Aqua i5 Octa is also expected to arrive in shades of black and white, but there’s no indication of when these options will go on sale. The smartphone is a low-cost mid-range release and it offers octa core performance with Android 4.4 KitKat in the driver’s seat. The chipset used here is from MediaTek and it has a 1.4GHz configuration with Cortex A7 cores.
Intex has included some pretty good features for such a low retail tag, albeit we’re a bit disappointed with the display’s resolution. The 5-inch IPS LCD panel is rated at qHD 960 x 540 pixels, when720p HD would have been a better pick. The phone is also being touted as a selfie release owing to the 5MP camera it has on the front.

And the rear snapper is of high-resolution as well, at 13MP with an LED flash. Coming to the innards, the Aqua i5 Octa has some pretty standard components like 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, a microSD card slot and a 2000mAh battery. Of course, the handset is dual SIM enabled and it also supports 3G HSPA networks.
