Swipe Slate Pro 9.7-inch tablet with 3G calling unveiled for Rs 9654

Meet the Swipe Slate Pro Android tablet which has gone official in India as a very affordable alternative to Apple’s costly iPad options. The device is priced at Rs 9654 and it offers cellular connectivity for data access as well as making voice calls over 3G and 2G networks.

However, it comes with only one SIM card slot, unlike most other tablets in the same range. Based on the hardware employed here, you could say that the Swipe Slate Pro will be as powerful as the iPad 2. The slate features a 9.7-inch 1024 x 768-pixel IPS LCD panel on the front with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

The cameras fitted here are of pretty low quality, with a VGA snapper situated above the display and a 2MP sensor on the rear, which doesn’t even have an LED flash. On the upside, the Swipe tablet is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and it offers decent memory provisions of 1GB RAM, 16GB storage and a microSD card slot which supports up to 32GB.

A 1.3GHz quad core processor does the heavy lifting here and you can expect decent battery life through the integrated 6400mAh power pack. Quite inconveniently, the company hasn’t provided any official estimates on how much activity time the tablet is capable of delivering.
