Samsung Tizen-based smartphone expected for India launch this month

Samsung is getting ready to unveil a new and extremely affordable Tizen OS-based smartphone in India later this month, according to the latest report. Apparently slated to arrive via a press event on December 10, this device will bear a price tag reading less than $100, which means it will cost around Rs 5000.

Samsung fans are likely to remember that we have already been seeing this device in the form of leaks over the past few weeks. It bears the model number Z130H and going by the new story, its official name is expected to be Z1. This phone supposedly runs version 2.3 of the Tizen OS.

Samsung Z1 Leaked Interface

As revealed by a post on India Today, South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper has disclosed Samsung’s plans to release the new device in India first. It has also revealed that the Z1 will be unveiled at a press conference to better explain the company’s plans for its home-brewed OS.

According to a previous leak, the Z1 ships with a 4-inch TFT LCD that showcases its visuals in 800 × 480p resolution. It runs on a 1.2GHz dual core Spreadtrum SC7727S processor which is granted assistance in its operations by 512MB worth of RAM. A 3.2MP camera forms another highlight of this Tizen phone by Samsung.
