Apple is now the king of enterprise share

Apple is the newly anointed king of the enterprise space, according to the latest Mobility Index Report by Good Technology. The increasing popularity of iOS in this sector has been credited to the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones.

Before Apple started enjoying its success in the aforesaid field, BlackBerry was widely known as the favorite among companies and in government offices owing to the security of its platform and services. The brand is now trying hard to make a comeback with its latest Passport smartphone and even claims to have a strong foothold in the Indian enterprise market.

Apple iPhone 6

In the third quarter of this year, the Apple iOS platform is said to have witnessed a noticeable growth in device activations in the enterprise segment. It showed a 2 percent rise over the previous quarter to stand at 69 percent. On the other hand, Android dropped from 31 percent to 29 percent from the third quarter to the fourth. Meanwhile, Microsoft has an insignificant 1 percent of the enterprise share.

Because BlackBerry devices employ the company’s Enterprise Server for corporate mail access, the brand’s market grab hasn’t been included in the pie chart below. According to VentureBeat, Good Technology attributes the rise in the popularity of iOS among companies and governmental departments to the launch of the new iPhone 6 models, as we’ve already mentioned above. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus units accounted for 85 percent and 15 percent of business customer activations, respectively.

OS Activation

These figures also prove that the smaller iPhone 6 has been received much more warmly than its bigger sibling in spite of reports about the latter being in short supply. The Apple iPad was seen to claim a huge number of tablet activations. On the other hand, such Android devices managed to increase their share of total activations over this quarter as well as the previous one.
