Flipkart places iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus for pre-order from Rs 53500 upwards

It seems like the iPhone 6 Plus continues to be in short supply seeing as Flipkart has put the handset up along with the smaller Apple smartphone, but hasn’t stuck an estimated release date next to it. On the other hand, the online retailer has noted that the iPhone 6 launch date in India might fall on October 17.

When Apple kicked off pre-bookings for the iPhone 6 Plus in the US, it did not expect its first ever phablet to be as popular as its 4.7-inch sibling. This meant supply fell short of demand and the company was forced to push back shipping dates for the 5.5-inch handset. What’s more, the debut of the rumored 12.9-inch iPad may also be delayed to the same reason.

Word on the street is that production of the larger iOS tablet won’t be started until the required number of the big screen iPhone 6 (second image) has been manufactured. This is why Flipkart has placed a ‘Notify me’ tag next to it instead of the ‘Pre-order now’ option pasted on the iPhone 6 product page. The two devices can be picked up in gray, silver or gold color options.

The costs of the new iPhone 6 smartphones come as no big surprises since we’ve already heard about them before. The iPhone 6 price for 16GB, 64GB or 128GB (yes, there’s no 32GB capacity) is pegged at Rs 53500, Rs 62500 or Rs 71500, respectively. Flipkart will even be vending the 5.5-inch phablet in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions for Rs 62500, Rs 71500 and Rs 80500, in that order.

Running on iOS 8, the iPhone 6 features a 64-inch A8 processor, an 8MP iSight camera and NFC for mobile payments. The last mentioned specification has been around in Android devices for some time, though its capabilities might need the brand power of Apple to really take off in the market. You get 750 x 1334p resolution on the 4.7-inch display and 1080 x 1920p on the 5.5-inch one.

Flipkart isn’t pairing the iPhone 6 or its bigger cousin with any special deal which will tempt customers to gravitate towards it. Hit this link to the retailer’s page hosting the two and see for yourself.
