Survey shows Indians believe technology will evolve to a new level by 2025

A study conducted by McAfee and the Marketing Science Institute has revealed some rather surprising beliefs that people in India hold about the future of technology. These include the possibilities of smartphones being able to smell things, homes that will read minds and the standard sci-fi fare of vehicles that can fly.

This study has been named ‘Safeguarding the Future of Digital India in 2025,’ and it has disclosed that 44 percent of Indians believe that their smartphones will be equipped with smelling capabilities by that year. It was conducted online with a total of 1002 Indians who were aged between 21 and 65. This group consisted of 523 men and 479 women.

Another aspect which this McAfee survey has thrown light upon is that of cyber crime. It has been seen as a major issue by Indians who are concerned about how new technologies will affect their safety and privacy. Around 98 percent from the group said that they would want to put in more effort towards protecting their digital assets in the future.

Moreover, 92 percent were also of the opinion that artificial intelligence and robotics will help them in their jobs. Furthermore, it was found that a majority of Indians (77 percent) think that the most common device in 2025 will be the smartphone. The smartwatch comes in at a close second with 75 percent, while tablet, laptops and other devices follow after that.
