Amazon India has proudly announced its multi-brand Gift Cards Store following the successful roll-out of its personalized and multilingual service bearing a similar name, in the country. The online retailer’s biggest competitor, Flipkart, also offers a gifting service limited by the fact that the vouchers can only be used to buy items from WS Retail which was once part of the seller’s front-end operations.
Amazon.in clearly has an advantage with its new Gift Cards Store since it lets the sender of a voucher to shop for one from more than 70 brands hosted on the website. We’re talking about customers being able to make a present out of everything from food to spa sessions to clothes to books. If you intend to gift someone one of these cards, you must pay for it via net banking, if not credit or debit cards.
There’s no option to shell out the money via Cash on Delivery basis upon the receiver of the gift card making a purchase with it. The companies which have jumped into the new virtual store include Café Coffee Day, Domino’s Pizza, E-Zone, Lakme Salon, Landmark Stores, Lifestyle, Nike, O2 Spa, Pantaloons, Shoppers Stop, Spencer’s, Titan and YLG Beauty Salon amongst others. Amazon India does not offer folks the choice of swapping a voucher from a particular brand for that of another.

Once the buyer of one of these cards places an order for it, he or she can expect it to be ready for delivery to the recipient within 4 or 6 working days depending on whether it’s being bought from a metro or non-metro area. The multi-branded gifts don’t necessarily have to be too expensive, with Amazon extending you the option of making a gift card out of any amount between Rs 10 and Rs 10000. As soon as the said item has been prepared, it is sent to the email ID of the person being given the surprise.
