LG G3 smartphone: Quick review of its best and worst features

The LG G3 is a marvel of a smartphone just like its predecessor and while it’s got a lot to love, there are some features that need a little polishing or aren’t up to perfection. We’re going to quickly brush you through the best and worst attributes of the handset so that you have a good idea of its pros and cons before you decide to purchase it.

The first noticeable thing about the LG G3 smartphone is its gorgeous design which is an evolution of last year’s flagship. The phone features an arc construction which makes it easy to hold even in one hand and thanks to the extremely slim bezels, the phone looks smaller than what it actually is.

The preloaded UI with Android 4.4 KitKat is a love-hate deal for us. Like Samsung, LG also fills its devices with exclusive content some of which tend to be unnecessary and least useful. The interface is flatter compared to previous versions and while this is a good thing, some might find it a bit dull compared to the competition.

One of the strongest components of the LG flagship is its rear-facing camera. The 13MP snapper can not only capture 4K videos, but also great images even in low-light conditions. Then there’s the laser AF system which quickly focuses on subjects, and OIS+ for sharp and shake-free captures. For power users, the embedded 3000mAh battery can be conveniently swapped so that you don’t run out of charge when on the move.

We’ve told you what’s great about the LG G3, now how about taking a look at its main downsides? Beautiful as it is, the phone’s appearance is deceiving as it isn’t made from metal, but from polycarbonate. Also, a 5.5-inch display can be beyond the comfort zone for many and it’s QHD (2K) resolution doesn’t quite impress.

The extra pixels on the display don’t make much of a difference when compared to the best 1080p panels and this is mainly because of inadequate screen size. And as you probably know, higher the resolution goes the more power hungry the display gets. The outcome here is mediocre battery life that won’t last more than a day on moderate usage.
