Reliance Jio finalizes list of vendors and partners for 4G launch in India

Reliance Jio is one more step closer to rolling out its 4G network and has announced finalization of a list of vendors and suppliers needed for launching its next gen telecom service. A humungous investment amount of Rs 70000 crores or more will be spent by the company for making 4G available in India by 2015.

If you remember, Reliance Jio was expected to kick off 4G services starting from its Mumbai and Delhi circles sometime in the July to September time period this year. The operator was reported to be adding up to 7000 members to its staff in order to be able to pull off this move. Of course, the company would have had difficulty in starting off its ambitious plans if it wasn’t for the unified license it won in 2013.

The license allows the service provider to deliver 4G and voice service delivery under one permit, a decision which raised eyebrows, though that’s a different story altogether. The point is that the 4G boom may happen later than anticipated and Reliance Jio is still in the process of readying the necessary support system. The company inked a deal with Tower Vision over sharing of mobile infrastructure just over two months ago.

The Economic Times says that the operator has access to approximately 192500 mobile towers across India owing to various agreements it has signed with other parties such as its parent company, Reliance Communications, as well as Ascend Telecom and America Tower Company amongst others. Reliance Jio will provide 4G services in the form of fixed and wireless broadband connectivity as also, end-to-end solutions.
