For a quick recap for the benefit of those not in the loop, Android One is a program which will have Google dictating the minimum guidelines required for the Android OS to run on cheap devices. Aimed at emerging markets like India, this will help homegrown players like Micromax, Karbonn and Spice deliver extremely affordable stock Android phones. It will also enable buyers to receive regular software updates as and when they make their way to Nexus and Play Edition devices.

The word about Google’s partnership with MediaTek comes from someone within the chip manufacturing company, according to a new report on Digitimes. It’s said that the Micromax device which was flaunted when the company unveiled Android One, features a dual core MediaTek MT6575 processor, apart from a 4.5-inch screen, dual SIM slots and FM radio support.

Another interesting bit that has been revealed by the source is that the success of this association between Google and MediaTek could lead to the expansion of Android One into the arena of tablets and TVs, in the future.
