WhatsApp hops back in Windows Phone store

We’re sure all you annoyed Windows Phone device users wouldn’t have downloaded WhatsApp which is back in the marketplace if it wasn’t for your friends who’re using it. Maybe it’s only because Facebook bought WhatsApp, but occasional downtime issues and now this unusual break from the Microsoft mobile OS’ app store are attracting more attention than ever before.

It’s also possible that WhatsApp’s quickly growing user base is forcing every small inconvenience it causes people to be magnified to unfairly large proportions, the the latest is not a ‘small inconvenience.’ We can see why the company’s explanation for the app’s latest disappearance from the Windows Phone Store has not been swallowed understandingly considering that it was absent for more than 10 days.

WhatsApp Windows Phone

Windows Phone Central spotted that WhatsApp simply couldn’t be found on the store in search and clicking the direct link to the software would lead to the page with the warning ‘This app is no longer published.’ Apparently, some technical problems in its interaction with Windows 8.1 lead to the developer pulling the messaging service and working with Microsoft to fix the bugs.

In spite of this, some of those who already had the WhatsApp installed on their handset could use it as usual and only folks trying to download it met with the aforementioned roadblock. The messenger app is now up and running in the store and you’ll find it by hitting this official link. Several changes to the WhatsApp UI and security options have been stirred into the present version.

Some of the additions to WhatsApp for Windows Phone include chat backgrounds, custom alert tones, media auto-download settings, broadcast lists and a ‘settings>account>privacy’ shortcut amongst other things.
