Samsung Galaxy S5 mini will be waterproof: Accidental reveal by company

Samsung New Zealand first accidentally revealed that the Galaxy S5 mini would be waterproof and then took this detail off its warranty information web page. We know that the South Korean company will be launching a mini version of its current flagship smartphone in keeping with tradition, though when and where are the finer points which haven’t been outed.

The fact is that just like its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is going to be a thoroughly watered down version of its namesake; so there’s no point drawing comparisons with the bigger smartphone. Perhaps the company has always meant it to be a separate, more wallet-friendly line altogether and product branding has never been its strength anyway.

Coming back to the alleged waterproof properties of the mini phone, Phone Arena has a screenshot of heavy hinting saying it’s capable of surviving under water at depths of up to 1 meter and for almost 30 minutes. It’s part of the brand’s warranty exclusions policy which also names the current flagship and Galaxy S4 Active in the same lines.

– 4.5-inch 720 x 1280p resolution display
– Quad core Snapdragon 400 processor
– 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage
– 8MP main camera, 2MP webcam
– Android KitKat 4.4 OS
– 2100mAh battery
– IP67 certified for water/dust resistance

The Samsung Galaxy S5 mini specifications listed above haven’t be confirmed by the company since it has yet to unveil the smartphone in the first place. Since the leak comes from none other than the official company pages itself, we can assume the story is true.
