Is Samsung Galaxy S5’s Indian version slower than its international counterpart?

The Samsung Galaxy S5 that is currently up for pre-order in India is not exactly similar to the gadget that has gone official in most of the other regions around the world. And if the various reports doing the rounds on the web are anything to go by, then the local version is definitely not as fast as its international sibling.

Most of the recent high-end smartphones from Samsung, including the Note devices and the Galaxy S5, are released as two separate variants. One of them is the international version which makes use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, while the other model of the handset has to make do with the Exynos chipset.

The reason behind this difference is that the Qualcomm components are compatible with 4G LTE and devices containing this SoC are usually launched in markets such as the US and the UK. As for the Exynos-embedded phone, it is released in the non-LTE markets like India.

Now in spite of the fact that in most of the recent phones, the South Korean company has integrated an octa core Exynos processor, whereas a quad core Qualcomm chipset in respective devices, it has turned out that the latter performs better. In the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Exynos chip used makes it a point to use all its 8 cores simultaneously, however, it still does not manage to make the device run as fast as the quad core chipset does.

Thus, it is solely because of the processor used in the Indian version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 that the device is slower than its international counterpart. There couldn’t be any other reason as all of their other specifications are perfectly similar. Nevertheless, even the India-bound model is faster than a lot of phones around.
