Samsung has announced the commercial availability of the Tizen platform and the device that is powered by it is not a smartphone, but a camera called NX300M. And that’s not all, those present at the keynote also got a glimpse at what Tizen 3.0 will be like.

Apart from an updated tool chain, performance enhancements and support for more RAM, the new OS will be bring compatibility with 64-bit architecture as well as allegiance to ARM processors and IA.

As it will boast of a 3D UI framework, interested customers can look forward to better-looking apps. It will not be released any time soon and will only be made available in Q3 2014. The first Tizen smartphone will hit stores in February next year, so there’s no chance of it running the version 3.0. The phone will probably make the most of the 2.2.1 platform.
