Xiaomi’s brought its Mi Crowdfunding platform to India for the very first time, after years of launching experimental products this way in China. It’s decided to start things off with just 2 items namely the Mi Selfie Stick Tripod and the Mi Bluetooth Audio Receiver.
Just like any other people-sourced funding process, Mi Crowdfunding sets a certain goal and declares the project a success only of it meets that target within the stipulated timeline. If it doesn’t meet its objective, the device will never see the light of day and all the money which has been handed over gets refunded to each backer.
To invest in a piece of Xiaomi tech, people will have to select an item, click on the ‘Support Now’ button, and then place their order. There’s no cash on delivery option, so they’ll have to choose online methods like credit cards, debit cards, or netbanking. Their order is protected from any price changes on the company’s part.
Xiaomi says that orders can also be cancelled at any point of time with full refunds. At the moment, both the Mi Selfie Stick Tripod and the Mi Bluetooth Audio Receiver are well on its way to getting 100% funded. The brand set the goal at 1000 units for each. The items will be shipped within 10 days of the completion of the project.
As its name suggests, the Mi Selfie Stick Tripod is a hybrid of a selfie stick and a tripod. It costs Rs 1099 and comes with a Bluetooth-powered shutter remote. The Rs 999 Mi Bluetooth Audio Receiver is a simple device for facilitating wireless music. It can be clipped to clothes and communicate with up to 2 handsets, though not at the same time.
