Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 gets a permanent Rs 1000 cut

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has gotten a lot cheaper in India thanks to a permanent price drop. Strangely enough, only 2 out of 3 variants have been affected.

To recap, the Redmi Note 4 first hit India in January 2017 in 3 options namely 2GB/32GB, 3GB/32GB, and 4GB/64GB. The first set buyers back by Rs 9999, the second by Rs 10999, and the third by Rs 12999. This has now changed, with the 3GB/32GB model falling down to Rs 9999 and the 4GB/64GB one landing at Rs 11999.

It’s not clear why Xiaomi hasn’t changed the rate of the basic 2GB/32GB iteration. Only the brand’s site is currently selling all 3 versions, with Flipkart vending the 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB choices. Perhaps the entry-level variant is being phased out gradually.

Another question on everyone’s minds is whether the cut on the Redmi Note 4 is an indication of the Redmi Note 5’s arrival. The latter has been rumored plenty of times in the past few months, with many expecting it to sport a minimal-bezel design.
