Vodafone’s Rs 179 Super Plan offers unlimited data, calling

Vodafone has announced yet another prepaid ‘Super Plan’ for its customers, this time specifically targeted at its Bihar and Jharkhand circle. The company hasn’t announced whether it’ll eventually make its way to other regions in the future.

Vodafone’s new Super Plan will set subscribers back by Rs 179. Within that amount, they’ll get unlimited local and STD calls, unlimited data, and free national roaming for 28 days. It seems like a pretty sweet deal, but there are a couple of constraints.

First off, Vodafone’s giving access to only 2G data. Secondly, the unlimited calls are limited to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes a week. Post this, customers will have to cough up 30p per minute. Plus, they’ll only be allowed to call a maximum of 300 unique numbers during the 28-day validity period.

Again, people will be charged 30p per minute after this ceiling is crossed. It seems rather unfair to limit the amount of numbers a person can call, but perhaps Vodafone has a good reason for doing so. Residents of Bihar and Jharkhand can take up the Rs 179 plan by heading to a retail outlet or through the My Vodafone app.

Vodafone actually has a similar Rs 179 tariff in place for Assam and the North East right now. The same unlimited local and STD calls and national roaming deals are available, but the data switches from unlimited to 1GB of 2G/3G/4G data. This plan might appeal to those who’d prefer to have faster speeds, but the 1GB limit is a setback.
