RIM rolls out BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone

RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 Finally the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is made official by RIM. The smartphone presents a blend of communication and multimedia features in a sleek and compact handset.

The BlackBerry device features a 2.44-inch light-sensing display that offers 480 x 360 resolution. The QWERTY phone is equipped with a 3.2 MP camera with variable zoom, auto-focus, flash and video recording. The 9700 is driven by BlackBerry OS 5.0 that facilitates email management and calendar enhancements and offers a better browsing experience with faster JavaScript and CSS processing. It packages a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, dedicated volume controls along with lock and mute keys.

“The BlackBerry Bold 9700 builds on the success of the original BlackBerry Bold with new, state-of-the-art features and a smaller, lighter and highly optimized design that looks, feels and performs great,” mentioned Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO, Research In Motion.

Some of the features of the smartphone include support for Bluetooth 2.1, BlackBerry Internet Service, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, BlackBerry Desktop Manager for PCs and Macs, BlackBerry Media Sync for easily syncing iTunes and Windows Media Player music with the smartphone and more. The 1500mAhr battery delivers up to 6 hours of talktime and 17 days of standby time in 3G mode.

The dimensions of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 are 109mm x 60mm x 14.1mm and it weighs around 122 grams. It is equipped with 256MB of Flash memory and can be expanded up to 16GB presently. BlackBerry Bold 9700 owners are also offered access to the BlackBerry App World via which they can access a wide variety of applications.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone will be made available from carriers around the world from November.
