The Nokia Connection event kick started at Singapore with the launch of two new mobile phones in its X Series smartphone category. Nokia marked the event with the launch of the Nokia X5-01 and the X6 8GB, keeping in mind the needs of the customers.

The Nokia X5 fits between the Nokia X3 and Nokia X6 models, making it a unique one with a blend of both phones. The handset offers a MiniDisc player with visual stylings and musical connection. The sound quality, easy-to-start keys and loud speakers add to the other features of the handset. The phone will provide access to ‘Ovi music’ and to ‘Comes with music’ in select regions.

The X5 offers a full QWERTY keyboard under the dashboard for instant access to tweets, status updates and text messages. Apart from direct access to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Hi5, the handset also offers web mailing services. The piece incorporates a 5MP camera with LED flash and 4X digital zoom.

The X5 embeds 200MB memory along with a 2GB microSD card. The storage is expandable up to 32GB, enabling users to store all their favorite data. The device also equips battery life of up to 16-days standby time or 24 hours music playback from a fully charged battery. The phone has the ability to change tracks when it is turned around whereas a simple shake can display unread messages straight from the inbox.

Indonesia will see the launch of Nokia X5 in the Q3, which is expected to be available for a price of EUR 165 before taxes and subsidies. The availability of the phone in other regions has been kept under cover.
