Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!

Linkin Park fans now have more reasons to rejoice. The rock band has announced the release of their latest mobile game application for the iPhone. The game called ‘Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!’ is a massive multi-player game which is inclusive of 8-bit remixes of the band’s all time hits like ‘New Divide’, ‘One Step Closer’, ‘In The End’, ‘Crawling’, ‘QWERTY’, ‘Hands Held High’, ‘Faint’ and ‘No More Sorrow’.

The production of the game began more than a year ago with the band partnering with game developer Artificial Life to develop a superior application experience for Linkin Park fans and gamers alike. The band members, who appear as characters in the game were said to be enthusiastic about the entire process of developing the game including the storylines, gameplay, character designs, etc.

Artificial Life CEO, Eberhard Schoneburg remarked on the experience of working of the band by saying that, “It was a unique experience to work with Linkin Park to create one of the most innovative mobile gaming experiences to date. Our close co-operation with the band has led to a cool and fun game play, a great design and a groundbreaking app that pushes the limits of the iPhone gaming experience and sets new standards for music based games. Throughout production the band worked closely with our designers intimately contributing to the creative process for character designs, in-game artwork, mission structure and, of course, the music in the game! 8-Bit Rebellion helps fans get closer to the band by drawing them into the virtual world that they have helped to create as well as providing their global fan base with an exciting community experience. It’s a must for all Linkin Park fans.”

The experience was equally enthralling for the band members. Band vocalist Mike Shinoda worked with the gaming team to develop the characters and score for the game. He also added that the game is not just made for Linkin Park fans, but rather has an universal appeal. The band that grew up playing games like ‘Metroid,’ ‘Donkey Kong,’ ‘Zelda,’ ‘Space Invaders,’ ‘Mega Man’, ‘Rygar’ etc have focused on the music at the same time giving their game a vintage feel.

The game is a high on action-adventure game, in which players need to free Linkin Park’s idyllic 8-bit world from the clutches of the evil PixxelKorp, whose corrupt agents have stolen the band’s music. The game takes players through several innovative levels and districts, named after the band members. As a part of its other features, the game includes Linkin Park’s latest song ‘Blackbirds’ which is unlocked once the game is completed.

Moreover, players get to choose an avatar from over 100 different options. Since the game is multi-player enabled, players can access instant messaging, in-app messaging, message boards, IM chats, etc. Users can even play the game in an offline mode and complete missions or buy artifacts from the store. This feature enables users with a fluctuating net connection to still advance in the game, and later sync their score once the connection is restored.
