Lenovo A7000 starts getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in India

Owners of the Lenovo A7000 have finally started receiving the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, nearly a year after the phone was first launched. The upgrade measures 1359MB in terms of size, so users should have at least 2GB of storage space free.

The update comes with build number A7000-a_S153_151127_ROW_TO_A7000-a_S223_160405_ROW and should be rolling out OTA to all consumers of the Lenovo A7000 right now. They can manually check for the update by heading over to Settings, About Phone and finally tapping on System Update.

Lenovo is advising its users to back up all their data before kicking off with the update process since Android 6.0 Marshmallow introduces the ability to install apps on an external memory card. As per the changelog posted by Phone Radar, any data and applications stored in the SD card may get lost while the phone is being upgraded.

Unfortunately, the changelog doesn’t mention what phone-specific changes will happen to the A7000 after it gets a taste of Marshmallow. The K3 Note notably got the ability to support the brand’s TheaterMax virtual reality technology after it was blessed with Android 6.0 last month. The feature allows users to view games and videos in widescreen.
