Facebook now lets you recharge your mobile number

Facebook has rolled out a special new feature just for its users in India, allowing them to recharge their mobile number right in the app. The tool has so far popped up on the Android version of the application, but will probably come around to iOS soon.

To get started, people will have to make sure they’re on the latest version of Facebook. Upon opening the app, they’ll have to head to the hamburger icon at the top right and choose Mobile Recharge from the list of options. Some phones display a Mobile Top-Up choice instead. Others will have to dive into See More to find it.

Once it’s been found, users will see their past credit and debit cards listed on the Recharge Now page. These cards will only show up if they’ve ever bought ads or made any other transaction with Facebook before. Tapping on the Recharge Now button will lead them to a page where they have to enter their phone number.

Facebook automatically detects which operator the number is associated with in most cases. In case of a mistake or an error, individuals can simply choose their brand from the dropdown list. After this process, it’s on to entering the recharge amount. Members can also browse through plans at this point.

Upon choosing, users will be sent to an Order Details page where their preferred mode of payment can be chosen. Only debit and credit cards are available right now, with no option for net banking, wallets, or UPI. Hitting the Place Order button will prompt an OTP or 3D secure password to complete the process.

People should receive a receipt after the recharge is done. You can download the latest version of Facebook via the Play Store.
