There’s no end to Samsung Galaxy product rumors slipping out every now and then, and as if a regulation, there’s a new one for this week in the form of a 10.1-inch tablet codenamed Roma. Hazy details have come forth about the device, which are pitting it against the company’s very own Google-branded product, the Nexus 10. This seems to be the same strategy that LG adopted with its Optimus G which is a derivative of the Nexus 4 it manufactures for Google.
Anyway, coming back to the tablet in question, it can be discerned from the new development that it could beat the Nexus 10 in the connectivity features department. That’s because it is said to come equipped with carrier support for 3G or 4G LTE depending on different regions. This is not all; the slate apparently also carries a microSD card slot unlike Google’s variant, and at 257mm × 177.7mm × 8.4 mm and 583 grams, is thinner and lighter as well.
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is of course the preferred OS, while the South Korean giant’s very own user interface could indeed be offering it company. The same dual core Exynos 5 Dual 1.7GHz processor that the Nexus 10 runs on would supposedly be present in the new tablet, aside from a Mali-T604 GPU. As SamMobile reports, according to the leak which has occurred through a Greek portal known as Techblog, its RAM will be locked at 2GB.
The site in question talks of a 16GB model which, as mentioned above, has a provision for expanding its memory via a microSD card slot. The Nexus 10 carries on its rear a 5MP shooter, while its front has been fitted with a 1.9MP secondary camera. Same is the case with this slab. Moreover, specifics like a 9000mAh battery, a 2560 × 1600 pixel display and many other features also remain common between the two.
