Symbian Anna Update

The new software update for Symbian Anna has arrived. The upgrade improves the mobile experience for users of the Nokia N8, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01 and Nokia E7 devices.

Symbian Anna reportedly offers numerous usability enhancements such as a new user interface, virtual QWERTY keypad in portrait mode and split-screen messaging, enabling users to view message threads, webpages, contacts and email while typing. This update claims to deliver business-grade security with better data encryption on Nokia smartphones.

“Nokia’s Symbian smartphones are used by millions of people around the world every day, addressing specific consumer needs and providing choices at many price points. Symbian Anna represents a significant update to the experience those users have and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Symbian, which will see up to 10 more phones introduced over the next 12 months, further updates to the user experience and support for the software until at least 2016,” said Ilari Nurmi, Vice President at Nokia.

The latest software brings about improvements in the maps and navigation features as well. Users can now benefit from supposedly better search functionality, new public transportation routes and can check-in through sites like Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter. The browser has been considerably enhanced too. With speedier and more convenient functions of page loads and improved device navigation, users can now stay connected to these social networking sites and their friends.

Those who use Nokia smartphones for business purposes can access their company intranet with IPSEC and SSL VPN enablers more smoothly. This updated software activates the Near Field Communications (NFC) hardware in the Nokia C7, allowing its users to share contacts, photos, videos and play games through a mere tap.

Symbian Anna can be downloaded via the latest version of Ovi Suite (version 3.1.1) on a PC or over-the-air directly to the smartphone.
