Motorola unveils MC55 Enterprise Digital Assistant phone

Motorola MC55 phone Motorola unveiled a new mobile phone known as the Motorola MC55 Enterprise Digital Assistant (EDA). Designed for the mobile workers, the phone is the smallest and lightest addition to its EDA line-up.

The Motorola MC55 EDA phone sports a 3.5 inch display screen and a full QWERTY keyboard that enables easy input of data. Based on Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, the phone integrates various features that meet the business user’s requirement.

Bob Chen, vice president and general manager of Mobile Computing, Motorola Enterprise Mobility commented, “As a leader in the handheld mobile computing market, Motorola constantly innovates to provide customers with the most versatile enterprise mobility tools for improving productivity and streamlining operational efficiencies,” he further added “The MC55 illustrates Motorola’s ability to help mobile workers work without boundaries, with robust connectivity to mission-critical business applications in a compact business-class device.”

The rugged handset includes a two-way radio, bar code and scanner. The phone features a 2 megapixel camera and provides various options for communication. It supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity that allows users to share data in wireless mode.

The Motorola MC55 phone is available in two variant options. Equipped with Motorola’s Team Express Push to talk client, the MC5590 phone provides 802.11a/b/g LAN (WLAN) and supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The Motorola MC5574 phone supports GPS and integrates an 128MB of internal RAM and 256 MB of internal ROM. It also supports expansion of memory via an external microSD card slot.

Both the phones feature 1D laser barcodes scanner and a 2D imager data capture. Meeting the specifications of IP54, the Motorola MC55 phone can even withstand the harsh conditions.

The Motorola MC55 phone will be available in UK at a price ranging between £1200 and £1,512.
